IHRA Drag Racing: Sportsman Edition (PS2, Xbox, and PC)

UI Artist and 3D Modeler

Examples of the front-end screens. This is the second drag racing title that I worked on. The UI was created in 3D studio max. The first game rendered everything on one flat layer and was modified for the second game so that everything could be created in 3D space. Which really opened up what I could do as a UI artist. For example, the tire would spin, producing smoke, when moving between screens.

UI Artist and 3D Modeler

Examples of the Auto Dealer, Vehicle Select and Level Select Screens. The billboards would animate on and off the screen as if the player were driving down the road as the level names where highlighted.

UI Artist and 3D Modeler

Originally these screens were meant to be flat menus that showed overtop of a model of the car. I was able to model out an entire garage and have the vehicle move thru the garage as the player selected the different options. Many of the elements in the garage animate and react to the car as it moves thru the options.

The trophy screen was originally designed to be a static text and checkmark progression screen. Since I could now create it in 3D, I turned it into an empty basement that transformed throughout the game’s progression into a Trophy Room. It was a ton of fun, I was able to add a beagle named Peanuts, a flying saucer, a suspicious looking red truck and animated moose and squirrel heads mounted on the wall.
